Crazy animals and cream colored/white dockers...
Monday, October 06 2008 - auditor-stories
I have a pair of Dockers dress pants that are cream colored, almost white actually. Every time I wear them they seem to attract a new stain. On this day, the stains were completely out of my control.
It was a 5 audit day. The first three audits went fine. The last two did not go so well. Audit 4 was at the home of an insured. I arrive and there was a one year old well tempered chocolate lab at the house. I pet the dog, he played for a moment and then as expected, he and I went our separate ways. As I finished the audit, I realized payroll did not verify with the quarterlies. The insured went into the computer room to print some more reports to figure out why. Prior to that, the insured filled the lab's rubber, hollow chew toy bone with peanut butter. As the insured went into the other room, the dog suddenly became interested in me again. I have been around enough dogs to know that they like to show people their toys, much like children. He brought his bone over to me and continued to chew on it. After about 5 minutes of interaction with the dog, I looked down. I had peanut butter all over my pants. I played it off to be nothing, but I was somewhat irritated.
So, it was on to the next audit. This time the house had an older dog that could care less about me and a young kitten. First, as the insured and I sat at the table, the kitten began playing with the strap on my laptop bag. That was fine, it was not bothering anything. Then, after about 10 minutes, I suddenly felt a pain in my left leg. The cat was climbing up my leg with its claws. It did this 3 times over the course of the audit. The funny thing was that the insured did not seem to care. I was simply told that she is their "attack kitty".
Now I had a pair of dress pants stained with peanut butter and traces of blood from cat scratches. A question did cross my mind... Was the cat just REALLY playful or was it somewhat attracted to pants covered with peanut butter?
